Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development in Conjunction with the US Department of State Present: “Rosa Parks, Her Life, Her Legacy”European Tour Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development, Co- founded by Rosa Parks has been invited by the US State Department to share the legacy of Rosa Parks with several nations. Anita Peek, Executive Director and historian will represent the Institute. Ms. Peek was a middle school student when she met Mrs. Parks, and worked with Mrs. Parks until her transition (2005). Under Mrs. Peek’s leadership, the Institute’s programs were elevated and expanded to include international and technology programs to name a few. Ms. Peek will lead round table discussions, give media interviews and meet with diplomats, graduate students, faculty and staff of universities in France about Rosa Parks’ contributions and commitment to civil and human rights. She will be assisted by Mr. Makia Gibson, Pathways to Freedom Alumnus, and program consultant to the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development. As Mrs. Parks dedicated her life to the empowerment of youth, Ms. Peek will address youth conferences highlighting the role of youth in the success of the Civil Rights Movement and offering useful suggestions for making a positive impact in their respective communities. |
